Obituary

Abraham Wright Jr. was born in Florence, South Carolina, on December 12, 1953. His father often referred to him as the last button on Abraham's jacket," a loving expression that reflected his place as the youngest of seven children born to Abraham Wright Sr. and Lillie Mae Wright, both of whom preceded him in death.

Abraham Wright Jr. passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Known lovingly to family and friends as “Brother”, Abraham attended Carver Grade School, Wilson Junior High School, and Wilson Senior High School.

Abraham was highly skilled with his hands and became an expert cement finisher, a trade he learned from his father as part of the family business. His strong work ethic and dedication took him beyond Florence to jobs in Myrtle Beach and Surfside.

Abraham enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and watched it whenever he could. He also loved Western television shows and movies.

Abraham was married for many years to Patricia, who preceded him in death. Together they were blessed with one son, Pashion J., and two treasured grandsons, Arnaz and Aidan. Abraham is preceded in death by his siblings, Ewalker James (Rosalie); Gerona James (husband James); Mike Murray and Essie Wright. A nephew, John Wright. He leaves to cherish his memories two sisters, Mary Ann (husband, Timothy, Sr. deceased) and Rosa (husband, Robert deceased).

Abraham also leaves to cherish his memories; his four nieces whom he helped raise, and loved as his own: Pamela, Ruby, Nicole, and Stacy. Also many grand- nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. They will always remember him affectionately as Uncle Brother. He also shared a special bond with his dear cousin, Sam who remained in close contact.
