Funeral service for Alonzo Peterson will be conducted 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 16, 2019 at J. O. & Annette Smith Memorial Chapel, 307 South Johns Street, Florence. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC. Alonzo Peterson, son of the late Riley James, Sr. and Annie Mae Peterson James Rooks, was born on August 18. 1940. He departed his earthly life for eternal rest on Saturday, November 9, 2019. Alonzo attended the Public Schools of Florence, South Carolina. He was employed as a Ceramic Tile Installer until his retirement. Alonzo joined IHTLS Church of Deliverance of Florence, South Carolina on April 16, 2016, where he gave his life to Christ and attended faithfully until his health declined. Alonzo was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Charlotte Munford; one grandchild, Alonzo Leonard Munford; four brothers, James Peterson, Leo Peterson, Riley James, and Larry James; and one sister, Mozella Peterson. Left to cherish Alonzo’s precious memories are: his daughter, Donna Renee Whitsett of Florence, South Carolina; a son, Alonzo Munford of Florence, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Montrell Munford, Shaletta Munford, Ja’waun Munford, Tyler Whitsett and Alonzo Rayquan Munford all of Florence, South Carolina; one sister, Olivia (Thomas) Timmons of Florence, South Carolina; two very special friends, Margaret Gurley and Clyde Shepherd both of Florence, South Carolina; a host of nephews; nieces; cousins; church family; and friends. I recently saw Alonzo at the Nursing Home. He joined the family as we celebrated my Sisters Birthday. RIP Alonza.
