“I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course.”
II Timothy 4:7
Angelo Jerome Abraham, affectionately known as “AJ,” entered eternal rest on November 10, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina, surrounded by his loving family. He was 60 years old.
Born on November 19, 1964, in Hemingway, South Carolina, AJ lived a life marked by faith, dedication, and compassion. His name, Angelo—of Italian origin, derived from the Greek word Angelos, meaning “messenger”—reflected his gift for spreading encouragement, joy, and goodwill wherever he went.
AJ received his education in the public schools of Virginia and proudly graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia. A gifted athlete, he played football for the Maury Commodores and was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. In his early years, AJ’s artistic talent shone through his love for drawing. Before leaving Virginia, he had the opportunity to illustrate a children’s book—an early testament to the creativity he would carry throughout his life.
After graduation, AJ relocated to Atco, New Jersey, where he began his professional journey as a Floor Technician with Thompson’s Janitorial Services. His strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to excellence quickly earned him promotions and new opportunities. Over the years, he held several key positions, including Assistant Project Manager, Area Manager, and Lead Person with American Building Maintenance, and later served as Plant Site Manager, Area Manager, and Operations Manager with Suburban Contract Cleaning. Through his hard work and integrity, AJ earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike. He took great pride in mentoring others, ensuring quality service, and maintaining high standards of professionalism.
AJ was known for his infectious smile, hearty laughter, and generous heart. He loved music—especially worship and gospel—and found inspiration through his favorite radio station, K-LOVE. He enjoyed spending time with family, sharing good food, and bringing joy to those around him. Whether lending a helping hand, offering words of encouragement, or lighting up a room with laughter, AJ’s presence made a lasting impact on everyone blessed to know him.
A man of strong faith, AJ grew up serving faithfully at Holy Temple Church, where his parents, the late Pastor Mary Abraham and Elder Carol Abraham, pastored. There, he served as a dedicated member, drummer, and tither. After surviving multiple myeloma cancer, AJ moved to Florence, South Carolina, to be closer to his family. He attended Risen Church under the leadership of Apostle Dominic and Pastor Nedra Owens, and Outbreak Cathedral under the leadership of Apostle Marvin and Pastor Shonette Richardson.
He was preceded in death by His mother, Pastor Mary Lee Abraham; sister, Arronetta Brown; brother, Valentino Abraham; two nieces, Tanaysia Abraham and baby Faith; and nephew, baby Kevin.
