Auris Gerod Singletary was born on September 8, 1974, in Florence, South Carolina. He was the son of Janice Faye Singletary and the late Auris Gerod Singletary. He departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
Auris was known as “Rod” to his family, “Zorro” to his friends, and the “Best Daddy Ever” to his children.
Rod grew up in Florence and attended the public school in Florence School District One. He earned a General Educational Diploma (GED). Rod was known as a hard worker. Most of his career was as a monument installer. He worked for Browns Memorial in Florence, SC for over 20 years until they closed in April 2026.
Rod was a fun-loving person who deeply loved his family and friends. One of his hobbies was fishing and he also loved sports, especially baseball. His favorite NFL team was the Miami Dolphins, favorite MLB team was the New York Yankees, favorite NBA team was the Boston Celtics, and favorite College basketball team was the Duke Blue Devils.
Rod was preceded in death by his father, Auris Geord Singletary; paternal grandfather, Lex Singletary; maternal grandparents, Bennie and Queen Esther Singletary; uncles, Heyward Singletary, McKinley Singletary, and Larry Singletary; and aunt Betty Ann Singletary.
Left to cherish his loving memories are his mother, Janice Singletary; paternal grandmother, Janie Bell Singletary; daughter, Zaeydah Wright; son, Auris Singletary, fraternal twins son, Jalen Singletary and daughter, LeQualen Singletary, and son Jamirion Singletary; bonus children, Oshatae Bethea, Jaquary Bethea, and Khadija Smyer; thirteen grandchildren; brother, Ryan Singletary; niece, Zaleyah Singletary; aunt, Queen Geneva Ivory and a host of other relatives and close friends.
