Celia Goodson

Mrs. Celia M. “Shirley” Goodson was born February 23, 1943 in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Mr. Willie Campbell and the late Lillie Mae Wilson. She died on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

Celia affectionately called “Shirley” attended Darlington County Public Schools. She was employed by Reynolds and Mary Williams as a Domestic Technician for many years.

In 1975, she was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Goodson; her parents, Willie Campbell and Lillie Mae Wilson; two sisters, Margaret Lyde and Brenda Frazier; and five brothers, Willie Campbell, Johnny Campbell, Nathaniel Campbell, Bernard Campbell, and James Campbell.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are: a sister, Josephine Arthur; a brother, Joseph (Alice) Campbell; fifteen nieces; twelve nephews; thirty-five great nieces; thirty great nephews; three nephews that she took part in raising, Eddie Robinson, Ja’Metrious Black, and Kobe Sparks; a special cousin raised as a sister, Marie Alston; three spiritual daughters, Jan Gadson, Brenda Washington, and Patricia Gandy; a loving little sis who always called her “My Shirley”, Edith Small; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
