Emma Mae Brown Williamson, the daughter of the late James Brown and Annie Starr Brown was born February 3, 1938 in Florence County. She departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest 11:14 PM Thursday, May 27, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Emma attended Wilson High School and was a proud Wilsonian graduate. After graduation, Emma relocated to Washington, District of Columbia and was a dedicated member of Way of the Cross Church of Christ until her health declined. Emma affectionately called “Ma” by her grandchildren was known for her infectious smile, and her kind compassionate spirit.
Emma was joined in marriage to Ernest Roosevelt Williamson and this union was blessed with seven children.
Emma was preceded in by her husband, Ernest; her parents, James Brown and Annie Starr Brown; a son, Gregory Williamson; two brothers, James Brown, Jr. and Robert Brown.
Emma leaves to cherish her precious memories: four sons, Donald Williams of Washington, District of Columbia, Anthony Williamson of Florence, South Carolina, Deandre Williamson of Washington, District of Columbia, and Daniel Williamson of Florence, South Carolina; two daughters, Delphine (John) Koroma Law of Florence, South Carolina and Gwendolyn Williamson of the home; two sisters, Annie Bell Carter of District Heights, Maryland and Marion Smith of Washington, District of Columbia; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; and a host of nephews; nieces; other relatives; and friends.
