Mrs. Emma Jean Winston, the daughter of the late Thelma Robinson Skinner and Johnny Cooper, was born on July 18, 1950, in Florence, South Carolina. She passed away peacefully October 3, 2025.

“Emma Jean” as she was affectionally called, attended New Ebenezer Baptist Church in her younger years and the Florence County Schools. At the age of 17 years old, she moved to Meriden, Connecticut to live with family, where she was employed with Industry. After returning to Florence, she was employed as a manager of the Ryans Steakhouse in Florence, SC.

Emma Jean leaves to cherish her precious memories: her daughter who she loved , cherished and care for Renee “Puffy” Crosby of the home, a delightful sister, Joyce Shird of Florence, SC; two brothers, Stanley Shird and Sylvester Shird both of Florence, SC; a special friends, Michelle Allen and Mrs. Anita White and spouse; a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends at 435 Howard Street, Florence.
