The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.

Graveside Service for Mr. Howard Lynheart Gregg will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, December 14, 2020 at Florence National Cemetery, 803 East National Cemetery Road, Florence, South Carolina. Interment will follow, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mr. Howard Lynheart Gregg, son of the late John Henry “Bootee” and Azalee Cain Gregg was born on July 14, 1942 in Florence County. He departed his life on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.

Howard grew up in Florence County and was educated at Wilson High School in Florence, South Carolina. After graduation, he joined the United States Army. He was a member of Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in the Claussen Community.

Howard worked for Dr. Floyd for many years.

Howard leaves to cherish: a son, Howard Bernard (Margaret) Gregg of Florence, South Carolina; a significant other of 48 years, Cynthia McCall of Florence, South Carolina; one devoted sister, Dolly Myers of Florence, South Carolina; two brothers, King Edward (Mildred) Gregg and Alphonso Gregg both of Florence, South Carolina; two aunts, Louise Brown of Pamplico, South Carolina and Ida Mae Gregg of Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of extended church family and friends.
