James Lee Dargan was born on October 5, 1948 in Florence, South Carolina to the late Bertha (Albert) Conner and the late Charles Dargan.

James attended the Public Schools of Florence County. He was employed at Socar and Nucor Steel Mills for many years. James was also well known as a Mechanic throughout the Florence area until his health declined.


James was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thaddeus Dargan; a sister, Alma Muldrow; and a brother, Charlie Dargan.


Those left behind to cherish James’ fond memories are his wife, Stephany Dargan; two sons, Timothy (Doretha Hickson) Dargan of Florence, South Carolina and Jamie (Jatori) Dargan of Charleston, South Carolina; two daughters, Wanda Dargan of Charleston, South Carolina and Sherrill Powell of Florence, South Carolina; sixteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Lee Conner of Florence, South Carolina and Albert (Juanita) Conner, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; four sisters, Frances (Willie) Riley of Florence, South Carolina, Denise (Reverend Maurice) Jackson of Florence, South Carolina, and Sallie C. Parks of Florence, South Carolina; and Mary (Ron) Muller of Boise, Idaho; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, two special friends, Charlie and June Kendrickson; and friends.


Mr. James Lee Dargan will always be remembered for his love for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
