Mr. James C. Hines better known as “Junior” transitioned peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024. In Florence, SC leaving behind his love, service, and cherished memories. He was born March 15, 1937, the son of the late James Andrew Hines and Lerlean Mattie Hines.
James accepted Christ as His Lord and Savior at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church. James was a graduate of the Florence Public Schools and went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force. His church and family were always close to his heart, grounding him in fellowship and spiritual growth.
After being Honorable discharged, James moved to Los Angeles, California where he became a dedicated member of the Masonic Order. His Masonic Involvement allowed him to travel throughout the United States, along with his sister, Alice Robinson and brother beside him, where they shared memories and allowed him to enjoy connecting with his fellow Masons and strengthening the bond with his beloved brotherhood; with whom he shared countless memorable talks and adventures.
Mr. Hines was preceded in death by his father, mother, and his sister Clara Hines of San Francisco, California.
James leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted family: his two sisters, Bertha H. Wilson of Florence, SC and Alice H. Robinson of Lodi, California, one brother, Roney Hines of Reseda, California and other relatives.
James will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul who brought warmth, compassion, and laughter to those around him. Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate the life of a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on the world. His legacy of love, friendship and unwavering integrity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May “Junior” rest in eternal peace embraced by the love and grace he shared so freely with others.
