Mr. James Harden Spears of Pamplico, South Carolina passed into eternal life with our Lord on Monday, May 22, 2023, at his residence. He was born on November 2, 1947, to the late Reverend Louis Harden Spears and the late Mrs. Amanda Eaddy Spears.

Mr. Spears was predeceased by his cherished wife of 49 years, Mrs. Rada Alice Spears. Though no children were born to this union, Mr. Spears was a beloved and devoted uncle to his host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Spears was also predeceased by two brothers, Leverne Spears and Allen Louis Spears and a sister, Atlean Spears Douglas.

Mr. Spears led a rich and fulfilling life.  Known affectionately as “Bo Peep” since childhood, he first received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the Greater Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church.  He was known for his warm smile, his incisive quick wit, and his love of good music, aviation, and technology.

He received his formal education in Florence County Schools and was a graduate of Gibbs High School.  As a Vietnam era veteran, Mr. Spears proudly served his country in the United States Army with honor and distinction. Over the course of his brave and selfless service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, three Bronze Service Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.  A longtime resident of Madison, Tennessee, Mr. Spears spent most of his professional career with the LoJac company and worked numerous positions in radio hosting and as a disc jockey. He took great pride in his work and was known for his dedication.

Mr. Spears is survived by his extended family including a brother, Earl Marshall (Sherby Gean) Spears of Effingham, South Carolina and a sister, Ethelean (Cornelius) Spears Moore of Columbia, South Carolina. He is also survived by brother-in-law Samuel (Diane) Myers of Pamplico, South Carolina, brother-in-law Laurie Shird of Pamplico, South Carolina, an uncle Kenneth (Mamie Ruth) Spears, Sr. of Effingham, South Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

May the soul of Mr. James Harden Spears find eternal rest, and may his legacy of love, kindness, and joy continue to inspire us all.  His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
