James Timothy Wright (known to most as Tim) was born to Catherine and Waldow Sr. on May 11, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA. He was one of nine children.
His family relocated to Glassboro, N.J. where he attended school and excelled as a star basketball player. He was awarded the 1000 points basketball and trophy during his high school tenure.
James joined Mount Zion AME Church 2023 and has been on fire for the Lord since. He joined the Male Chorus and the Sanctuary Choir and loved going with the Male Chorus when they traveled to other churches.
He attended college in Pittsburgh before deciding to enlist in the Air Force in 1967 and was stationed in Glendale, Arizona prior to Vietnam where he was Sgt. Military Police Officer until March 1969.
After discharge from the service, he went to Virginia State University where he started his career as a photo journalist for the local Richmond news station. He later moved to Florida where he worked at news stations covering local and national news in Dade County.
He moved to New Haven, CT in 1983. He met his wife Juanita Reynolds in January 1984, after charming her with his brilliant smile and teddy bear hugs. They were married August 8, 1984.
James was an avid tennis player and golfer. He was a member of the Knicker Bocker Golf club in New Haven where he was a frequent winner or runner up for the top prize. He loved playing and watching all sports. His favorite teams were Uconn and the Gamecocks.
He leaves to mourn: His wife, Juanita Wright; one sister, Katherine Smith; two daughters, Yvette Reynolds (David) and Latisha Reynolds; one son Keith Hinton (Jeanette); four grandchildren, Rondell Hinton, David Daniels IV, Deja Daniels and Brian Henderson; and two great grandchildren.
James was always the favorite uncle for his many nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his parents, Catherine and Waldow Sr; three brothers, Waldow Jr., Phillip, and Darwyn; and four sisters, Gloria Lundy, Doris Coar, Phyllis Burt, and lnetta Jones.
