Mr. Jerome “Jeter” Benjamin, the son of the late Helen Slater and Roosevelt Benjamin was born March 5, 1951 in Darlington County. He was educated in Darlington County Public School Systems.
"Jeter" as he was affectionately called loved his family tremendously and was the type person that would never forget anyone. His mindset was of such that he would remember things that you thought he would have forgotten. He was an avid lover of moon pies and loved to eat.
In addition to his parents, Jeter was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Those left to cherish his precious memories are five sisters, Hattie Mae Sellers, Rosa Smith, and Mary Ann Tedder all of Darlington, South Carolina, Mary Hayes of Brooklyn, New York, and Ruby Burks of Durham, North Carolina; seven brothers, Willie Benjamin,Jimmie Benjamin, Creighton Benjamin, Ronnie Benjamin, John Earl Benjamin, Curtis Benjamin, and Rector Bishop, Jr. all of Darlington County, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Mary Benjamin; two brothers-in-law, Sammie Jackson of Darlington, South Carolina and James L. Smith of Society Hill, South Carolina; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends at 2606 N. Governor Williams Hwy., Darlington.
