Jerome "Larry" Brown Jr., of Florence, South Carolina, entered eternal rest on May 29, 2026, at the age of 73.
Born on November 28, 1952, Larry was the beloved son of the late Jerome Brown Sr. and Elizabeth Charles Brown. He lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a love for family, friends, and community.
Larry attended Wilson High School and spent many years working as a highly skilled brick mason. His craftsmanship and strong work ethic earned him the respect of those who knew him. Through his work, he helped build lasting foundations that remain a testament to his talent and dedication.
A familiar sight throughout Florence, Larry could often be seen riding his bicycle around town, greeting friends and neighbors along the way. He enjoyed going to the movies, watching football, and was a devoted fan of the New York Giants. One of his greatest joys was keeping up his yard. In fact, he shared a friendly rivalry with his childhood friend who lived across the street. Whenever one of them started cutting grass, the other would quickly pull out the lawnmower to make sure their lawn remained the best on the block. Those moments brought laughter and created memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome Brown Sr. and Elizabeth Charles Brown; his brother, Michael A. Brown; his sister, Vanessa Brown-Perkins; his grandson, Delvonte Jeffery; and his nephew, Keon Cooper.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his son, Darryl Bostic; his grandson, Darion Bostic; his sisters, Janice Cooper, Viola Brown, and Cynthia Brown; his brother, Steven Brown; his aunt, Mary Charles; four nieces; six nephews; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; a special and devoted friend, Alice Bostic; and many other relatives and friends whose lives were blessed by knowing him.
Though Larry's earthly journey has ended, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His laughter, kindness, determination, and the simple joys he found in everyday life will never be forgotten. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." — 2 Corinthians 5:8
