Bishop Jimmy C. Brown

August 21, 1943 — January 26, 2024

A Disciple of Him “who gave Himself for us, an offering and sacrifice to God”

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith;” - II Timothy 4:7

Bishop Jimmy Brown, Sr, 80 years old, was born on August 21,1943, at Saint Eugene hospital in Dillon, South Carolina to the late King Brown and late Kathleen Bethea. He departed his earthly life peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2024, with his loving daughter, Cutie by his side at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina.

He completed his education at Wilson high School in Florence, South Carolina. He worked several years as an Industrial worker.

His most valued single accomplishment in life was when he was baptized in Jesus name while attending the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ Jesus, under the leadership of the late Bishop Clarence Cornish. Sr. He was a Pentecostal Preacher and enjoyed spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.

He was indeed a great asset to the ministry. Bishop Brown was a prayer warrior and loved to pray and could pray. He had such a unique way of praying. He would pray until he shook heaven. Not only could he preach and pray but he could sing and loved to sing. One of his favorite congregational songs were “Drive Him Away Lord, Drive Old Satan Away!” He would be singing off beat, but somehow, he produced tempo with his hand clapping skill, that would put him right back on beat.

Bishop Brown loved praising God with a holy dance, he didn’t do the typical holy dance, he danced like David said… Bishop Brown not only did the 1-2 step dance, but he also had a different style, he added his “crisscross”, hop and spin. Soon other saints adopted his “crisscross” style. He certainly impacted the congregation and brought a wealth of spiritual enhancement everywhere he chose to worship.

Bishop Brown was a fighter. He will be remembered for all the space in his heart that he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them. Bishop will be missed dearly. He was a respected man of the cloth who loved the Lord, his family, his church, and his community. He was a hardworking, devoted father and grandfather.

He loved to create nicknames for everybody. His children were affectionately known as “That boy” and “That girl.” Bishop Brown had an amazing memory and he enjoyed sharing entertaining stories, even in his last few days on earth he was still telling his funny stories.

Bishop Brown was preceded by his father, King Brown; his mother, Kathleen Bethea; a brother, Calvin Brown; and a sister, Kathleen Brown; four children, Wendell Brown, Chep Brown, Markus Bethea and Brian Brown.

Bishop Brown leaves behind to mourn his death; six children, Marsha Davis, Scherazade Bethea Tillman (Alexander), Jimmy Brown, Jr., (Shawntae), Timothy Brown (Tyriqua), Jaron Brown (Daniela) and Theresa “Cutie” Brown (Monique); several grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a brother, Nathaniel Brown (Deborah); a sister, Cynthia Brown; nieces; nephews; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Bishop Brown take your rest. No more suffering and no more pain. Sorrowfully submitted, The Family
