Joseph Johnson

Joseph Elijah Johnson was born on April 23, 1939 to the late Leila Epps Johnson and Elijah Johnson. Joseph departed this earthly life on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. After the death of Leila’s husband Elijah, she met and married Nathaniel “Buster” Robinson of Pamplico, South Carolina and he served as Joseph’s surrogate father until his death.

Through out his life Joe cared for others, he was always there to either fix something or give you advice on how to fix it. He is celebrated here today for all his kindness and generosity. That pep in his step when walking or the way his eyes lit up when he smiled is the best memory of him that we can take with us.

Mr. Johnson, Mr. Joe, Pop Pop, Dad as he was affectionately called by family and friendswas married to his childhood sweetheart, Minnie Pearl Stone Johnson. Joseph served in the Army Reserve where he was a cook. He has told many stories of his life over the years, but what we remember most is how hard he worked and saved for his family. Let’s remember his laugh and/or his little anecdotes or old school remedies that he swore by. He was adopted bymany other brothers and sisters of the community where he was from and where he lived. He lived and survived this life for eighty-two years, and now itis time for him to join his mom, dad, sister, brother, wife and a host of loving family members waiting to welcome him home.

Joseph leaves to cherish his loving memories ~ his younger brother: Rev. Dr. Alvin Costello Robinson of Pamplico, SC; nieces: Sandra Casimir-Deyounks, Terri Moore; daughters: Harriet A. Washington, Sharon J. Thomas, Rochelle Johnson; son: Joel Johnson; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildrenand a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
