Mary Eaddy

Mrs. Mary Alice Packer Eaddy was born to the late Spencer and Mildred Packer on May 26, 1947 in Florence, South Carolina. She was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 5, 2021.

She was a proud graduate of Wilson High School and Florence-Darlington Technical College. She worked for many years for The Florence Morning News and the Florence County Disability and Special Needs office and was active in her community.

She was a long-time member of Majority Missionary Baptist Church of Florence where she was a Trustee, Senior Missionary member, Usher Board member, and a Past President of the YWA. She was a past State President of the IBPOEW and Daughter Ruler of Liberty Temple #800 for several years. She also served for many years as Secretary of the Silver Star, Tent #4 of the United Order of Tents.

Mary was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that loved to travel, traveling the world to spend time with her Army son and his family, visiting South Korea, Germany, Paris, France, and London, England.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Mildred Goodson and Rosa James.

Celebrating her life and rejoicing in her victory over death are: her sister, Elease Johnson of Florence, South Carolina; three children, Natalia Packer of Atlanta, Georgia, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Gregory (Lisa) Packer of Fairfax Station, Virginia, and Edrick Packer of Florence, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Tamesha, Chelsey, Kavon, Kashon, Gregory, Jr., and Matthew: eleven great-grandchildren, Kameryn, Dontay, Chase, Ayden, Jayda, Carter, Karmyn, Chance, Kayson, Karlei, and Kaiden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

While we will miss Mrs. Mary Alice Packer Eaddy, the impact she had on all who knew her is lasting and she will be cherished forever. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.

The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.
