Mary L.
Sanders
March 23, 1948 – April 10, 2026
Mary Luella Sanders of Florence, SC fell asleep on Friday, April 10, 2026. Mary was born on March 23, 1948, to the late Robert and Tressie (Peggy) Sanders. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone she met.
Later on in life, Mary moved to Washington DC where she attended public schools and graduated from Eastern High School. Mary would later meet and marry Carlton Baylor in April of 1970 and from that union, they were blessed with their first child, Rodney Jerome Baylor. Mary started her career with the Department of Transportation where she worked for over 30 years and retired. During her time in Washington, Mary was introduced to the faith of Jehovah, and at that time she made the decision to get baptized on July 13, 1975.
In 2010 Mary made the decision to move back to Florence SC where she dedicated her life to serving Jehovah God and found great joy in sharing the bibles message of hope with others and was known for her kind spirit and strong faith. Mary especially cherished the promise found in the scriptures of a future resurrection and life in a peaceful new world. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her group of girlfriends where they would go out to eat, shop, and sometimes travel. If she wasn't doing any of those things, you would find her at home on her couch with her little babies, coco and peppa watching movies or football which was something that she loved to do.
Mary is survived by her son, Rodney Jerome Baylor of Richmond, Virgina; one grandson, Rodney (Bacari) Baylor of Upper Marlboro, MD; one sister, Alfreda Wilson of Florence, SC; two nieces, Shantel Sanders and Ashley Wilson both of Florence, SC; one great nephew Jaylen Graham of Florence, SC; a dedicated friend of over 30 years, Patricia (Pat) Wills of Clinton, MD and a close cousin, who was like a second sister Bernice Coker of Largo, MD.
In addition to her family, she was cherished by a large circle of spiritual brothers and sisters in the congregation whom she loved very much. Mary's memory will live on with us
