The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.

A Private Funeral Service for Mother Mary C. Smith will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2021 at J. O. & Annette Smith Memorial Chapel, 307 South Johns Street, Florence, South Carolina. Interment will follow at Aimwell Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mother Mary C. Smith was born July 4, 1925, in Florence County the daughter of the late Mrs. Minda Cain. She entered into eternal rest Friday, January 22, 2021at McLeod Hospice Care Hospital after a long illness.

She attended Florence County Public School. Mother Smith, a faithful member of Aimwell Baptist Church, in Pamplico, South Carolina joined at an early age, was baptized, and later served proudly as Mother of the Church.

Mother Smith was married to the late Isaiah Smith and to this union nine children were born.

The family relocated to Trenton, New Jersey. While in New Jersey, Mother Smith was employed at the Institute of Advance Study in Princeton, New Jersey as a Domestic Technical for more than fifty years.

Mother Smith was predeceased by her mother; her husband; a sister, Lulla Bell Cain; and a brother, Johnnie Cain.

Mother Smith leaves to cherish her precious memories: four sons, Isaiah Smith, Jr., John Smith, James Smith, and Odell Smith all of Trenton, New Jersey; five daughters, Gladys Moore of Mount Holly, New Jersey, Thelma Brown-Smith of Pamplico, South Carolina, Mary Ann Saunders of Florence, South Carolina, Starlean Smith of Trenton, New Jersey, and Betty Bailey of Pamplico, South Carolina; thirty-four grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren; nephews, nieces, other relatives, friends, and her church family.
