The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.

Graveside Service for Master Sergeant Lisa Soto will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church, 1900 Mount Zion Church Road, South Carolina Highway 341, Olanta, South Carolina, 29114. Interment will follow, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Master Sergeant Lisa Maria Soto was born July 30, 1982 in Florence, South Carolina to Jonell McFadden, Sr. and the late Mosezella McCray Thomas Pearson. She departed this life on Saturday, January 2, 2021.

Master Sergeant Lisa Soto served 20 years in the United States Army. While doing so she completed tours to Iraq and Afghanistan. Her last position was as an Instructor located in Fort Lee, Virginia. She trained soldiers on their job as a Supply Specialist. She often shared stories of the young eager troops.

Master Sergeant Lisa Soto was a very loving mother. She brought smiles to her children’s every single day. SFC Soto was a rock, a protector, and a provider for her children. She was also loved by so many others, family, and friends.

Master Sergeant Lisa Soto was preceded in death by her mother, Mosezella McCray Thomas Pearson; her grandparents, Josh and Mable Johnson McCray; her grandparents, Leatha Mae Gaskin and Eugene McFadden; and her brother, Lee James Thomas.

Master Sergeant leaves to cherish her memories: three children, Johnny Soto, Jr., Jalen Soto, and Dondre Laxaiver Palmer all of Fort Lee, Virginia; her father, Jonell McFadden, Sr; her siblings, Jason Thomas, Letha Pearson, Josh Pearson, Jonell McFadden, Jr. Cynthia Singletary, Keya Amande, and Angel McFadden; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
