Mrs. Mildred Lucas Bryant was born on June 30, 1937 in Darlington County, South Carolina to the late Mr. Olden Lucas, Sr. and Mrs. Rebecca Williams Lucas. After a brief illness, Mildred was called home with the Lord on Thursday, April 29, 2021.
Mildred was a Florence native, graduating from Wilson High School Class of 1956. In 1957, she moved to New York City and for several years was employed by “Play Tape” as a Receptionist. Upon moving back home Mildred was gainfully employed with Florence School District 4 as a Teacher’s Assistant. She retired in 2000, after 15 years of dedicated service.
At an early age, Mildred accepted “Jesus Christ” as her Savior and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church in Florence, South Carolina, where she attended Sunday School and Baptist Training Union. Mildred was a faithful and dedicated member of Savannah Grove Baptist Church in Effingham, South Carolina, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Ralph W. Canty, Sr. She worked with the Church School Department, founded the Cradle Roll and served as Overseer for a number of years. For several years, she volunteered in the Church Office assisting the Church Administer with a variety of duties. She also operated the Church Book Store and attended the Wednesday Noon Bible Study Group.
In November 1956, she married Adam Bryant Jr. They were married for over 50 years and from that union there were two children: Tyrone (who died at birth) & Adam, III who was the apple of her eye and a blessing from God.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adam, Jr., her brother, Otis Lucas and her son, Tyrone Bryant.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memories: a son, Adam, III of Thomson, Georgia; two grandchildren; Adam, IV, and Olivia; three bonus children, Anthony (Tanya) Bryant of New Brunswick, New Jersey, Belinda Bryant Mills of Atlanta, Georgia, and Allen (Lisa) Bryant of Plainfield, New Jersey; four bonus grandchildren, Tiara Bryant, Kira Mills, Kyla Mills, and Allen Bryant, Jr,; two sisters, Mary Williams and Ida M. Roberts both of North Chesterfield, Virginia; one brother, Olden Lucas, Jr. of Florence, South Carolina, two sisters-in-law, Debra Lucas Starks of Florence, South Carolina and Dorothy Lucas Cooper of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a host of cousins, other relatives, extended church family, and friends.
Please keep the family of Mildred Lucas Bryant in your thoughts and prayers.
