Mitchell Pressley

Sunday evening, September 3, 2023, at approximately 7:49 PM Mr. Mitchell Pressley completed his life on earth and began life as he stepped into the sunset. 

Mitchell, “Chine” as most of his childhood friends would call him, was born April 26, 1947 to Willie Pressley and Mary Elizabeth Anderson Pressley, in Florence, South Carolina. 

As a child, he joined Maxwell “Grove” Baptist Church and attended school at North Vista Elementary School in Florence, South Carolina and Woodridge Elementary School in Woodridge, New York. 

Mitchell relocated to Florence, South Carolina in his seventh-grade year of education and graduated from Wilson High School Class of 1967. After graduation, He returned to Upstate New York, where he learned various trades. 

Mitchell relocated to Florence, South Carolina in November 1969, and married his wife, Amy A. Simmons. This union of fifty-three years, ten months and a half year ended Sunday, September 3, 2023. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; Willie Pressley and Mary Elizabeth Anderson Pressley: a brother, “Bunny”; and a sister, Deborah.

Mitchell leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Amy; two bonus daughters, Beverly and Tia; a sister, Terri; his special first cousin, Clarence (Lillie Mae); a sister-in-law, Freddie Mae Simmons; a brother-in-law, Danny Simmons; and a host of grandsons, granddaughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends. Last but not least, his Maxwell Baptist Church Family and Co-Workers of Francis Marion University.
