Florence - Funeral service for Mrs. Geneva Eagleton Thompson will be conducted 12:00 Noon Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Mt. Clair Baptist Church, 1009 E. Main St., Lake City, SC. Interment will follow in Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Pamplico directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC. Geneva, the daughter of the late Arthur and Icerlean Spears Eagleton was born March 26, 1936 in Florence County. She died on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Geneva affectionately known as “Zoo” by family and friends and “Gee” by her husband was educated in Florence Public Schools. She was a member of the WHS Class of 1954 and played basketball. At an early age, Geneva was converted, baptized and joined Spring Branch Baptist Church in Pamplico, S C. On November 13, 1958, she married William Levi Thompson and to this union, seven children were born. Geneva became a Domestic Engineer and Bookkeeper for the family business, Thompson and Sons Barber College. Geneva's missionary accolades allowed her to sing on the choirs of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dovesville, South Carolina and Mt. Clair Baptist Church in Lake City, South Carolina. Survivors includes her husband, Rev. Dr. William Levi Thompson, Sr.; five children, Sheldon L. (Deborah) Thompson, Gradlin Thompson, Garcia T. (Rev. George) Washington, Wanda D. Thompson, William L. (Angel) Thompson, Jr.; a sister, Louise E. Belin; two brothers, Arthur (Frances) Eagleton, Jr. and Lawrence (Shirley) Eagleton; one uncle; one brother-in-law; an adopted sister-in-law; twenty three grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives; many church families and friends. Family visitation will be held, Tuesday evening, March 26, 2019 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Spring Branch Baptist Church, 945 E. Spring Branch Rd., Pamplico and other times, 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM 4509 Megan Rd., Florence. Send flowers to the service of Mrs. Geneva Thompson
