Nelson Moses, age 88, peacefully departed this life on May 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 29, 1937, in Florence, South Carolina, Nelson was the son of the late Prince and Letha Williams Moses. He attended Wilson High School in Florence before relocating to New York, where he completed his education at a vocational high school. Nelson was one of twelve siblings and shared a close bond with his family throughout his life.

Following his education, Nelson proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years as a Warehousing Specialist. His military service reflected the dedication, discipline, and strong work ethic that would characterize his life.

After completing his military service, Nelson worked various jobs and earned a certification in floral arrangement before beginning a distinguished career with the United States Postal Service. He faithfully served with the Postal Service for 41 years before retiring, earning the respect of coworkers and community members alike through his commitment and dependability.

Nelson found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed gardening, listening to and collecting music, attending Broadway plays, and traveling. He and his beloved wife, Sudie, were faithful members of Savannah Grove Baptist Church in Effingham, South Carolina, where they worshiped and fellowshipped with their church family. Above all, he treasured time spent with family and friends. Known for his kindness, wisdom, and steady presence, Nelson touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Letha Williams Moses and Prince Moses; his daughter, Cynthia; and his siblings Nancy, Herbert, Alberta, Lelia, Andrew, Earnest, Mary, Alethia, Leroy, Dorothy, and Ruby.

Nelson leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Sudie Moses; children Cornelia Williams of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, George (Tina) Bradley of North Carolina, Alphonso (LaTonya) Bradley of Florence, South Carolina, Lethonia (John) Barnes of Florence, South Carolina, and Denise Middleton of Dumfries, Virginia; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
