Reather Bell Thomas Hunter was born May 31, 1937, in Florence South Carolina to the late James Thomas and the late Mae Thomas Gibbs. She departed this life on Monday, February 19, 2024.
Reather was family oriented, and involved in her Church and Community. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. She opened up her home to many in need.
Reather attended Florence County Public Schools.
She was baptized at an early age and later attended Savannah Grove Baptist Church. At the time of her demise she was currently a member of Impact Outreaching Ministries.
Her work history consisted of various jobs in the Florence County area, she was also self-employed for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Hunter Jr.; her parents, James Thomas and Mae Thomas Gibbs; two sons, Clinton J. Hunter and Thomas Smith; two daughters, Arlene McCall and Lucille Smith; siblings, Georgiana Hawkins, Howard Thomas and James Edward Gibbs; granddaughter, Pamela McCullum.
Left to cherish her memories are five daughters, Brenda Gee of Florence, SC, Daphney Robinson of Darlington, SC, Mary (James) Quillen of Florence, SC, Darlene Moses of Raleigh, NC, Harriet (Johnny) Mashack of Timmonsville, SC; two sons, James Hunter of Florence, SC and Steven Gee of Philadelphia, PA; one sister, Minister Flora White of Florence, SC; one brother, Gary (Sara) Gibbs of Darlington, SC; twenty-one grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
