Rudolph Johnson

Mr. Rudolph “Jack” Johnson was born January 11, 1947 in Florence, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Jack Johnson and Cleo Simmons Johnson. He went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.

“Jack” as he was affectionately called was educated in the Public Schools of Florence County. He was a long-time business owner of J & M Game Room, The Universe Night Club, and other businesses.

At an early age, he gave his life to the Lord. Everyone that knew Jack, knew that he was a caring, compassionate, and a selfless individual, who always put others before himself. The love he had for his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and sister was unmeasurable.

He married the love of his life, Frances Carter Johnson, on January 29, 1968. They just celebrated 53 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Johnson; his mother, Cleo Simmons Johnson; his stepmother, Clara Johnson; a special Uncle, Fred “Boone” Simmons; and father-in-law, Henry Carter.

He leaves to cherish his memories to: his wife, Frances Carter Johnson; seven daughters, Tonya Johnson, Angelique Solomon (Marcus), Carla Brantley (Glenn), Jacqueline Johnson, Minister Chanel Porchea (Elder Ricky), LaRhonda Moses, and Megan Daniels; fourteen grandchildren, to include Jamal Johnson and Ashleigh Johnson who was raised in the home; seventeen great grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Ethel Carter; one sister, Ethel Semley; one niece, Lorelle Semley (Brian Robinson); one aunt, Doretha Simmons; two great nephews, Elijah Robinson and Benjamin Robinson; a special friend of the family, Frank “Geno” Bethea; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Please keep the family of Mr. Rudolph Johnson in your thoughts and prayers.

The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.

Dearest Jack: You have always been there, long as I can remember. As my brother, always as a young child, growing up together; not knowing you were my dear 1st cousin, who always looked after me and, not knowing, protecting me. You were always there. Yes, God has taken you home. Your job is fulfilled here, not only with me, but with all of us: your sister, your wife, your beautiful children, grandchildren, greatgrands, cousins, friends, acquaintances and neighbors.
