Thomas Bernard Green was born in Lake City, S.C. on June 10,1950, to the late Jack L. Green, Sr. and the late Eugenia M. Green of Lake City, S.C. He passed away on June 9, 2025.
He attended public schools in Lake City, S.C. and graduated from Carver High School in 1968. While attending Carver High School, Bernard was an outstanding basketball player and an outstanding football player. He was also an outstanding trumpet player in the high school band.
As a youth Bernard was a member and attended Greater St. James AME Church in Lake City, S.C.
Bernard enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1971.
Upon discharge from the United States Air Force, he relocated to Brooklyn, N.Y. where he became employed with the New York Post Office. After leaving New York he moved to Washington, D.C., where he became employed with the United Coal Miners Association. Upon retirement from the United Coal Miners Association, he returned to Lake City, S.C., where he became self-employed.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Jack L. Green Sr. and Eugenia M. Green; three brothers, Jack Green, Jr., James Louis Green and Charles Green; one sister, Mae Frances Green Brown and a special lifetime friend, Margarette Chapman.
His memories will be cherished by his three sisters, Carolyn McMillan of Florence, SC., Cynthia McGill of Charleston, SC., and Betty Jenkins of Columbia, SC.; a special nephew, Armin Bernard McGill; special friend, Gregg Williams of Clinton, Maryland, and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews and cousins.
