James E. Richardson, Sr.

James Edward “Jimmy” Richardson, Sr. was born in Lee County, South Carolina to Willie and Calperta Richardson on July 17, 1944. He departed this earth to be with the King on June 1, 2022.

James also known as, “Jimmy” was educated in Darlington County Public School System.

James a faithful member of New Beginning Christian Outreach Ministries and was appointed as a Deacon under the leadership of Bishop John T. Brown.

James was one of the hardest working men to ever walk this earth. James was employed with Lazy Boy Furniture Company for 20 plus years. After retirement from Lazy Boy, he decided he could not sit still and started working with B and H Junkyard just to have something to do to keep from sitting in the house.

James was a very quiet and reserved person. He didn’t talk much but when he did speak he could get you to laughing but also give you some serious advice. He was a great listener and was known for his kind heart and often helping people beyond his means. The love for his family was bigger than the universe. He enjoyed spending time with family and being in the comfort of his home.

James’ children and grandchildren describe him as being reserved at times, loved by many people, always happy, strong, patient with people, caring, kindhearted, respectful to everyone, mindful of others,  loving and caring towards everyone, but most of all his love for God. He would give the shirt off his back if he thought that it could help you out.

James was preceded in death by his father, Willie Richardson, Sr.; mother, Calperta Richardson; two brothers Willie Richardson, Jr. and Jerry Richardson; three sisters, Voncille McPhail, Annie Jones, and Connie Frierson; two brothers-in-law, Earl Jones and Leverne McClain.

To cherish his memories, James leaves behind his wife, Joyce Richardson; seven children.  Malinda (Roderick) Brunson Pace of Goldsboro, North Carolina, James Shelton (Tiffany) Brunson of Dallas, Texas, James Richardson, Jr. of Darlington, South Carolina, Ravon (Trina) Richardson of Hope Mills, North Carolina. RuKiya Richardson, Roslyn (Timothy) Singletary, and Lisa Fuller all of Darlington, South Carolina; two sisters, Shirley (George) Taylor and Lillian McClain both of Darlington, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Gloria Jean Fuller Jones of Durham, North Carolina; three brothers-in-law, Anthony (Tammy) Watts of Pennsylvania, Cleveland Frierson, and Moses McPhail both of Darlington, South Carolina; 20 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and godchildren.

The family will receive friends at 2460 Hoffmeyer Rd., Apt. 109 Florence, South Carolina. Due to COVID 19 - Mask are required.

Never known a brother-in-law who went through so much to be truly loved, honored, and respected. Even during these last few weeks, all he wanted was peace, love, joy and happiness. Now he is finally with the Lord where there is that long-awaited peace and no more pain, no more medicine, no more negatives. Always loved Jimmy, always respected him, always seen him love his children equally. While others may be sad and weeping, I am truly rejoicing. Love you always, your sister-in-law, Jean.

To all the children, you know how to reach me. I am here for you….Aunt Jean.
